🌙 Night Lights & Creatures in Flight
Join us for a peaceful evening exploring the magic of summer nights at the garden. This after-hours experience features three activities where you can discover the wonders of the natural world after dark:
🔭 Stargazing with the Central PA Observers
Gather around high-powered telescopes with local astronomy experts to observe the night sky. Learn about stars, planets, constellations, and other celestial sights in a relaxed and awe-inspiring setting.
🦇 Night Walk with Joe Gyekis & Nash Turley starting at 9pm
Take a guided walk through the gardens and natural lands with local naturalists Joe and Nash as they explore the secret lives of summer’s nighttime wildlife—including bats, birds, and lightning bugs. Listen for calls, spot flickers in the trees, and get to know your dusk-time neighbors. Walk starts at the Overlook Pavilion.
🪰 Sky Fishing with Garden Staff & Volunteers
What’s sky fishing? We’ll be setting up a special light trap to attract nocturnal insects like moths and beetles. Come observe these nighttime flyers up close, learn about their roles in the ecosystem, and try your hand at identifying them with our staff and volunteers.
This event is open to adults (18+)
Cost: Free
This event takes place outside and may be canceled due to rain or extremely cloudy conditions.
