Flagey teams up with Angola 2025 for a vibrant evening of culture and discovery.
Inspired by the powerful and socially engaged music of Bonga, the event features a rich programme blending music with film, visual art, dance and poetry. Highlights include the screening of Bonga: In the Name of Freedom by Dom Pedro, the exhibition Afrotopias (curated by AJA and the Camões Institute), and a festive Angolan atmosphere with local cuisine, dance and poetry. A colourful tribute to artistic commitment and cultural diversity.
Bonga, one of Angola’s most influential musicians, returns to Flagey for the second time with a special ‘best of’ concert marking 50 years of Angolan independence. With his raw voice and warm semba rhythms, he takes the audience on a musical journey through his remarkable career. His music tells stories of hope, struggle and connection, effortlessly blending tradition with timeless emotion. From the iconic 'Mona Ki Ngi Xica' to more recent songs, this concert is a tribute to his roots and to the resilience of the Angolan people.
