For our July Member Mixer, we’re heading to the hills of Mystica Farm & Apiary to meet the passionate makers behind SSI Mead Co. —one of the island’s newest and most enchanting beverage producers.
SSI Mead Co. launched its new Mead bar last summer, after being in business for 4 years, and crafts impeccably-fermented honey wines and refreshing session meads that highlight the floral character of local BC honeys—from wildflower to raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. Thanks to a proprietary cold-filtration process, they preserve the essence of the honey—enzymes, colour, flavour and all—creating beautifully dry meads that feel light, lively, and distinctly of this place.
Join founders at their panoramic Mead Bar & long table venue—a hidden gem with sweeping views of Trincomali Channel, Galiano Island, and the North Shore mountains—as they share their journey: from hauling pallets of bottles themselves to beat the supply chain, to planting 20 new Sudachi trees (a rare Yuzu-Mandarin citrus cross) that will bring a zing of excitement to future vintages.
The evening will feature tastings of select mead wines and their signature “fresh kombucha” (non-alcoholic), light refreshments, and a 20% discount on all purchases made during the event. Attendees will also have the chance to enter a draw for a bottle of Cogito Estate Blackberry Wine.
