Talk: Jo Clement

Award winning poet, Jo Clement, will give personal reflections on Delaine Le Bas' exhibition and read a selection of her poems. As a working-class poet and interdisciplinary maker of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller ethnicity, Clement will give the audience a unique and insightful perspective of the exhibition through her talk.
Her poems have been described as โdeeply personal โฆ rich with the lexicon of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller lifeโ which โbear the weight of suspicion and violence directed towards those who live within the rhythms and currents of the natural worldโฆโ.
In 2019 Clement co-authored a collaborative walking and writing book, titled Outlandish, with Delaineโs son, Damien Le Bas, with drawings by W. John Hewitt, which was commissioned by New Writing North for Durham Book Festival.
The event will start with a short introduction by NCAโs director and curator of the exhibition, Harriet Sutcliffe.
