Intro to Twining with Janeise Harmon
$78-materials included
Ages 14 & up
Limited to 10 Students
Saturdays August 2nd, 9th, 16th
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Twining is an ancient (10,000 years old!) technique of weaving that has been used in Appalachia the past 200 years to make heirloom quality rag rugs, table mats, and more that are both beautiful and incredibly durable. We will be making a 19" x 14" placemat.
We'll begin this class by preparing the materials and warping our looms. From there we will begin twining using beginner techniques. Twining is a slow craft and students will need to take their assigned loom home and weave on their own in order to finish by the last class. All materials are included, however the looms are loaned to students and will be returned at the end of the third session. We will have locally made looms available for purchase should students wish to continue with this craft beyond our classroom. Students are encouraged to bring fabrics of their own if they have specific color preferences. .The Instructor will bring cotton or poly/cotton sheets and pillowcases from her stash.
