Get ready for a bold, energetic, and heartfelt rideโ€”The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is coming to the Looking Glass Playhouse stage this fall, and weโ€™re looking for a standout cast to bring it to life!

๐Ÿ”ž Due to the mature nature of the story, auditions are limited to candidates age 17 and older at the time of auditions.
Candidates who are 17 must provide written permission from a parent or guardian.
Performers of all genders and ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

๐ŸŽถ What to Prepare:
Sing 16 measures of a style-appropriate song.
โžค This does not need to be from a musicalโ€”choose a piece that highlights your vocal strengths!

Bring printed sheet music for our accompanist. (No a cappella auditions.)

Be prepared for a cold reading from the script

Be ready to learn a dance combination

๐Ÿ‘ข CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Miss Mona Stangley โ€“ 40s-50s. The madam with a heart of gold. Strong actress and singer with charm, wit, and warmth. Mezzo-soprano.

Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd โ€“ 40s-50s. Tough, passionate, and loyal. Monaโ€™s longtime friend and love interest. Baritone.

Jewel โ€“ 40s-60s. Tough-talking and sassy housekeeper at the Chicken Ranch. Powerful soul/gospel-style voice.

Melvin P. Thorpe โ€“ 30s-50s. Over-the-top television reporter with a flair for dramatics. Comic timing and strong vocals required.

Governor โ€“ 40s-60s. Slick politician, sings the comedic โ€œSidestep.โ€ Character baritone.

Senator Wingwoah โ€“ 40s-60s. Another politician; often paired with the Governor for comic relief.

Doatsey Mae โ€“ 30s-50s. Waitress and local gossip. Sings a heartfelt solo.

Angel, Shy, Linda Lou, Dawn, Ruby Rae, Ginger, Taddy Jo, etc. โ€“ 17+. Featured girls of the Chicken Ranch. All must sing, act, and move well. Variety of types and personalities.

Aggie Boys / Football Players / Townspeople / Reporters โ€“ All adult ages. Strong ensemble roles with lots of singing, dancing, and character work.
