Join us at 11 am Saturday July 19th in the Interpretation Centre of Cape Jourimain Nature Centre for the screening of Migration (2005) and a discussion with Alain Clavette after the film.

‘Made in Acadia’ from Acadian parents but born in Montreal, Alain Clavette has been passionate about birds and ornithology since the late 80s while working for the Linéenne Society at the Cap Tourmente Wildlife Reserve. After studying biology at the Université de Moncton he settled in Acadie, where he worked for Parks Canada in three Maritime National Parks over six years. Since then he has continued his passion for birds as a guide, writer, and Ornithology professor at the Université de Moncton from 2017-2021. For 13 years, Alain has hosted a weekly birding column on CBC Radio New Brunswick, and often says that birds lead his life.

Migration, a first place prize winner at the Ménigoute Ornithological Film Festival in France, captures Alain and his good personal friend Cajun singer Zachary Richard as they follow the migratory journey of birds from the bayous of Louisiana to the Bay of Fundy, an expedition that merges with the meeting of two faces of Acadian identity, that of the South and that of the North. From the unending mud flats of the upper Bay of Fundy to the luxuriant bayous of South Western Louisiana and back to the bird ‘nursery’ islands of South Eastern New-Brunswick, the exceptional footage helps foster an intimate meeting with the birds and their habitat, soundtracked by Zachary Richard's music. A $10 contribution per vehicle will be requested from non-members upon entry.
