Bal Folk! in Santa Fe
4th Sundays of the month
3-5pm
βBal Folkβ means a dance event featuring traditional dances from across Europe, usually a mix of easy couple dances, mixers, line dances, and more. Many of the most well-known Bal Folk dances come from regions around France, with additions from across Europe. Bal Folk has become quite popular on both sides of the Atlantic because they are fun, accessible, and have lovely music.
We will learn and practice a variety of French couple dances (schottische, mazurka, waltz), Breton lines dances (an dro, branle), set dances (bourrees), and some mixers or multi-person dances.
All levels are welcome, no partner required. Bring smooth-soled shoes if you can.
Cost: $5
Contact Amy Mills (YWNtaWxscyB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t) for more information.
All dances at Odd Fellows Hall are smoke-free and drug & alcohol-free.
NOTE: We won't meet on September 28, as Amy will be teaching a Bal Folk workshop at the Albuquerque Folk Festival at 3:00pm on that day!
