1975 WIDENING MAIN STREET, ARCADE

Using many historic photographs, Town & Village Historian Jeff Mason presents a program on the widening of Arcade’s main thoroughfare. From the removal of the massive trees lining West Main, the overpass constructed at the west end to the rebuilding of sidewalks, creating turning lanes in the middle of downtown and the Wizard of Oz themed re-opening in October 1975.
The program is approximately one hour in length and will be held at the Arcade Historical Society’s Old Fire Hall, 15 Liberty Street. The lecture hall will open half an hour before the program.
