From Fedoras to Fascinators

Have you ever wondered WHY women used to wear hats? Big ones, small ones, pretty ones, ugly ones. . . why?

Elizabeth Carlson, also known as ELLIE, is a historian and a performer with concentration in the domestic arts. For over 30 years she has worked as a curator in small- to mid-sized museums.

Ellie will give a presentation that will hopefully answer that question, "Why did women wear hats?" Because for centuries women have adorned their heads and framed their faces with all kinds of head coverings.

The Geneseo Public Library is pleased to host Ellie as she presents "From Fedoras to Fascinators" here at the library on Friday, September 19 at 2 pm. (Please note that this is a Friday, unlike most of our programs that are on Wednesdays).

As a special treat, we will have sugar cookies beautifully decorated as ladies' hats for all who attend!

Please note--Ellie's lectures can contain some unexpected moments; she believes that if the audience is laughing, they cannot be yawning as it is physically impossible to do both at the same time!

Mark your calendars now for September 19 for a very enjoyable program!
