๐ฎ ABOUT THE SHOW:
While a certain famous wizard was saving the world, another story was unfolding at that very same magical school โ the story of the PUFFS.
This clever, fast-paced, and heartfelt comedy follows Wayne Hopkins, a totally average kid from New Mexico who discovers he's a wizard and gets sorted into the house of loyal, kind-hearted misfits: the Puffs. Over the course of seven increasingly dangerous years, Wayne and his fellow Puffs navigate classes, creatures, curses, and chaos โ all while just trying to stay alive and out of trouble.
A parody for those who always felt like background characters in someone else's epic, PUFFS celebrates the awkward, the overlooked, and the wonderfully ordinary.
With tons of quick character changes, physical humor, and rapid-fire storytelling, PUFFS is a magical ensemble piece full of laughter and unexpected heart.
๐งโโ๏ธ WHO CAN AUDITION:
Open to performers ages 14 and up
Looking for a strong ensemble with comedic timing, movement ability, and versatility to play multiple roles
British-ish accents encouraged but not required
๐ญ CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
(Most roles are multi-character tracks; casting will be gender-flexible.)
WAYNE HOPKINS โ A well-meaning, awkward American wizard. The heart of the story.
OLIVER RIVERS โ A math-loving realist. Loyal, dry-humored, slightly panicked.
MEGAN JONES โ The edgy Puff. Wants to be dark and scary, but really just needs friends.
NARRATOR โ Witty, commanding, and fast-paced. The narrator keeps the show flowing and adds lots of personality.
CEDRIC โ The coolest Puff. Kind, noble, and a true role model... for a while.
PUFF ENSEMBLE (Hannah, Leanne, Sally, Susie, Erin) โ A variety of quirky, lovable Puffs. Each has their unique spin: emotional, optimistic, paranoid, cheerful, confused.
MR. VOLDY & OTHERS โ Includes the main villain and dozens of wild characters including professors, students, Death Buddiesโข, ghosts, magical objects, and more. Expect fast costume changes and big character swings!
๐ REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals begin shortly after casting
Primarily weekday evenings and some weekends
Tech week begins in early September
