Singalong

You are invited to an evening of good old fashioned music hall singalong entertainment on Sunday 24th August at St Mary the Virgin with St John church, Great Brington. Perfect timing for the 80th anniversary of Victory In Japan Day, how better to commemorate this event then the way our parents and grandparents did ?
Your host, the very excellent Mr Tom Carradine will lead us on the piano as we have a marvellous evening of singing scores of music hall favourites. From the saucy to the sentimental, the wistful and the patriotic, Tom explains the backstory to songs that have embedded themselves in our collective memory.
Why do West Ham sing “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.”? How did Marie Lloyd dodge the censors with her rendition of “Wink With The Other Eye”? Why did all soldiers sing “It’s A Long Way To Tipperary”? Tom explains it all then leads us in spirited renditions. Lyrics are projected on a screen for all to see.
He then brings us up to date with popular songs through the decades. Beatles, Abba, we have it all! You don’t have to be able to sing but we guarantee you’ll be joining in with gusto!
Tom usually has a residency at Wilton’s Music Hall in Wapping but has been pursuaded to come and give us his fabulous show in aid of the church. Tickets are £17.50 each for 90 mins of top entertainment. Available through the link below or can be purchased at the Post Office, Great Brington.
Show starts at 6pm. Food and drink available both at the church and at the very excellent Althorp Coaching Inn nearby.
