Steam & Symphony - Where Mighty Music Meets Mighty Machines

This summer the National Railway Museum invites you to Steam and Symphony—an orchestral performance set beneath the vast roof of the Great Hall.

Award‑winning conductor and composer Benjamin Ellin leads the Slaithwaite Philharmonic and friends in a programme of railway inspired compositions including his own concerto inspired by legendary engineer Sir Nigel Gresley with Opera North’s Christian Jones as soloist. Surrounded by icons like Mallard, you’ll feel the thunder of brass and the hiss of steam in one unforgettable performance.
