The Katoomba Winter Poetry Readings. The July reading, on Thursday 17th June at 6.30pm,will feature Linda Adair and Mark O’Flynn along with an open mic.

LINDA ADAIR: Poet and CO-editor of Rochford Street Review, Linda Adair’s Irish ancestors arrived at Port Jackson in the 1800s, fleeing English occupation, or the crop failure which was weaponised as ‘The Great Irish Famine’. Born on Darug Country during ‘The Great Australian Silence’, Adair explores lives marginalised by History. Her debut book 'The Unintended Consequences of the Shattering' was published in 2020. Her poems have been anthologised in OysterCatcher One (5 Islands Press); To End All Wars Puncher & Wattmann); Messages from The Embers; Poetry for the Planet; Pure Slush and published in Live Encounters Poetry & Writing; FemAsia; Bluepepper; BlueNib; P76: Poetries of Place, Displacement, Diaspora & Odyssey; P76:the Sonic Poetry Festival Issue; and others. She recently featured at The Kedumba Gallery reading, the First Anniversary Reading of 5 islands Press poets in Fitzroy, and has appeared at La Mama Poetica, ‘A Gallery of Poets’ at Dickerson Gallery, Poetry in the Pub, Cuplet, the inaugural Reading the River in Brooklyn, NSW, at Melbourne’s 2024 and 2023 Sonic Poetry Festivals, as well as Poetry Sydney’s 2024 World Poetry Day.

MARK O'FLYNN: Mark O’Flynn’s novel 'The Last Days of Ava Langdon' (UQP) was short listed for the Miles Franklin Award, 2017. A collection of short stories 'Dental Tourism' appeared in 2020. His recent collections of poems are 'Undercoat', (Liquid Amber Press, 2022), and 'Einstein’s Brain' (Puncher & Wattmann, 2022).
