Portrait Painting - From Photo to Oils with Katherine Bruner

Using your own photo reference, you will be guided through the process of creating an oil painting of your loved one. You will learn how to improve accuracy by developing an initial sketch, indicating anatomical reference points, light and dark tones. Then you will be using this sketch to transfer it to a canvas board or other painting surface of your choosing, and paint a "grisailles" or gray scale painting to help you prepare to paint accurate and appropriate tonal values. You will then add the final touch of painting color, finishing your work of art.
