Haiku Birds: cuckoos, crossbills & wandering poets

Enjoy an evening of haiku inspired by herons, bush warblers and more! Learn how the ancient art of haiku was shaped by the flight of swallows, the song of the cuckoo and the wandering poets of Japan. Delight in hearing its modern expression from artists around the globe and through every season. Learn the secrets of a form that expresses both heart and meaning through the inspiration of the natural world.

Deborah Bowman pairs poems and slides of Japanese artwork in her presentation. She includes verse from her recent book, Tangled Thicket: Seasons of Haiku and describes the local Colorado sites and encounters that shape her words. Now retired Deborah’s previous work as a psychologist and professor of Mindfulness-based Transpersonal Counseling at Naropa University contribute to the tone and depth of her offering.

Event is free, but please call 303-979-2475 to sign up as seats are limited.
