Learn about the world of fungi from an expert with a lifetime of experience. Trees For Tomorrow's Sustainable Living Institute is hosting mycology master, Anne Small, who will educate us on the basic biology of macro fungi, the roles that fungi play in the environment, collection techniques, identification tips, and examples of some of the common edible, medicinal, and poisonous mushrooms in our area. After the classroom portion, participants will be given a 30 minute break to eat lunch on their own (lunch not provided) before resuming class. The field portion of class will take place at the Anvil Trail System off of Military Rd. Participants will be instructed as to how to collect their fungi and then will go out in pairs or small groups to collect mushrooms along the trail. Everyone will meet back at the trailhead to discuss and ID our finds.
