Carpentry/Drywall Workshop for Women

This workshop is hands-on! First, you'll practice attaching drywall onto a mini wall and install a variety of wall anchors. Then you'll patch holes in the drywall ranging in size from a removed anchor, all the way up to a hole caused by several well-aimed hammer swings.
This workshop will focus on basic carpentry skills and knowledge:
>Basic hand tools that you should have in your home toolbox
> Beginner-friendly tools
> Understanding how your home is constructed and why
> The basics of drywall installation and repair
> Installing drywall anchors
Each workshop begins with an introduction to hand and power tools, and you'll go home with plenty of resources to help further your understanding of carpentry. The goal of this workshop is to build a comfort level with the systems in your own home and to help make informed decisions when talking with a contractor. All skill levels are encouraged.
INSTRUCTORS: This class is taught by industry professionals, and offered through Central Ohio Women in the Trades. COWIT is a nonprofit organization focused on the education, recruitment, and retention of women within the various trade unions around central Ohio.
