The Niche Family are a family of folk singers based in Glasgow, Scotland and hailing from Rutherglen and Toronto Canada. The band was formed by ex members of Glasgow Freak Folk 7 piece The Hoojamamas, Brothers Stuart and Andrew Neil alongside Lauren Thompson after an impromptu jam following Stuart and Laurens Wedding in 2021. The band then played their first show at Eden Festival the following Summer on the Wee Timerous stage hastily followed by their second gig at the same festival on the Main Stage filling in for rapper Coolio who couldn’t make his “Cooking with Coolio” afternoon slot. They have a few Glasgow gigs under their belt including supporting Alice Faye at her sold out Glad Cafe show, as well as a show at The Moonshine Cafe in Laurens home town of Oakville, Canada. The band have recently added Aberdeen folk singer Adam Thom on Banjo for live performances.
