Create an adornment out of shells, fibre and other natural materials, with the guidance of Pōhatu Roa artist Neke Moa. Bring in any treasures that you’ve foraged – shells, sticks, stones – and create a wearable artwork out of them. Some shells and fibre will be supplied. Neke Moa (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Ahuriri, Kai Tahu, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) is an adornment and object artist, predominantly working with Pounamu (NZ jade). In 2000 she gained a Diploma of Design and Art at Te Waananga-o-Raukawa and then furthered her studies at Whitireia NZ, completing a Bachelor of Applied Arts in 2007. Moa has exhibited widely throughout Aotearoa and internationally. Over the last 4 years Moa has taught shell craft in Fiji and Tonga and continues to teach and learn as part of her art practice.
