Blair Hobbs will present a guided slideshow examining two exhibitions at Spalding Nix Fine Art in Atlanta: "Flannery O'Connor's 100th Birthday" and "Radiant Matter." She will discuss how the art pieces are linked by layers of reckoning, both spiritually and physically. Topics include teaching, retirement, breast cancer, misfits, and a little bit of mixed-up religion.
Blair Hobbs is a writer, visual artist, and Senior Lecturer Emerita in English at the University of Mississippi, where she taught literature and creative writing since 1996. Her poetry has appeared in various magazines and journals, and she is represented by Spalding Nix Fine Art, Atlanta, Georgia; Southside Art Gallery, Oxford, Mississippi; Fischer Gallery, Jackson, Mississippi. Both "Radiant Matter" and "Flannery O’Connor’s 100th Birthday" shows were nominated for the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Visual Arts Awards.
