Cool off after ArtsFest with a Sunday afternoon of storytelling folk music at Manny's. $10 suggested donation for NC-based artist Colin Cutler and Laura Boswell.
COLIN CUTLER is an independent banjo- and guitar-slinging storyteller and songwriter based in North Carolina. His newest album, Tarwater, is based on the short stories of Flannery O'Connor and ranges across the tent of Americana and folk, drawing from the sounds of country, gospel, blues, and roots rock, with a touch of banjo-driven oldtime. The album also made it into the top 20 on both Folk Alliance and alt country charts.
In the last couple years, Colin has performed at Merlefest, the North Carolina Folk Festival Shakori Hills Grassroots Fest, Charlie Poole Festival, and Antlers and Acorns Songwriters Festival, Notre Dame University, and he won the Susquehanna Folk Festival Emerging Artists Competition in 2022.
LAURA BOSWEL exhibits a poetic and technical depth that has garnered comparisons to Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, and Nick Drake. She writes intimate folk music with classical influence that has been described as meditative, transcendental, and within the "chamber-folk" genre (Asheville's Mountain Xpress). Along with being a singer-songwriter, Laura has a degree in classical guitar performance and studied piano from a young age. She views music as a bridge to human connection and vulnerability, as well as a powerful tool for fostering community. The multi-instrumentalist has self-released three albums, Counting Eyes (2014), Fall Away (2017), and WellSpring (2022) along with two EP's.
