Gambie uses plants, landscape, créole, and afro Caribbean mythology to create an oniric universe to talk about domination, power, race, fantasy and sexuality. She navigates between sensuality, eroticism and violence, in these stifling colonial times we are living in. During her residency at the Jan van Eyck Academie, she has been working on her project Metaphore of the coconut tree, a graphic series of social portraits through the coconut tree’s archetype. Gambie has been examining the relationship between plants, colonisation, domination, and the use of patterns.

Metincan Güzel presents his artistic research on insulation as an emotional and structural dimension. Drawing on atmospheric precarities and isolation, his work views insulation not just as a thermal barrier but as a tool of exclusion, negotiation, and inhabitation. The presentation explores intimacy within crisis-ridden urban ecologies through sculptural gestures and fragmented monologues.
