Picassiette Mosaic with Montet Designs

Picassiette Mosaic – Join us for a fun-filled session of creative mosaic making, using recycled and special sustainable materials with Audrey from Montet Designs.

This workshop is called Picassiette Mosaic – which means creating a mosaic out of ceramics, crockery and found objects. Working with local mosaic artist, Audrey, learn how to use professional mosaic making tools to snip tiles and produce your sustainable mosaic. Enjoy selecting colours of glass, tile and embellishments to make a truly unique design. You may have a special tea set, tiles, shells or jewellery that you would like to bring in and incorporate in your design, or you can use the selection that Audrey will provide.

Design: The workshop is a mixed design workshop, so you may be coming to create a door number for your home, a mandala for your table or something decorative for your garden or something completely different! Audrey will have a selection of books and templates for you to choose from, but if you have a specific image, design or pattern that you’d like to create, then please do bring along any printouts you may have. If you’re planning on creating a door number and want a specific font, please also bring this with you.

The Mosaic Making: Creating your own choice of mosaic selecting one of the substrates provided at the class.

Sizes: 20cm x 20cm square, 20cm round, 15cm x 25cm, 12cm x 30cm

The substrates provided are chosen to fit within the workshop time frame.

If you have a specific design in mind that you would like to chat through with me, then do get in touch and I’ll be happy to go through things with you. If you have your own substrate that you would like to bring along, then also get in touch so we can chat it through to discuss the size and what is possible within the 4 hour session. A large project may incur additional costs to cover the price of the additional tiles, glue and grout needed to complete.

If you don’t complete your tile work within the workshop time you will be given the necessary tiles to take away with you to complete at home. Everyone works at different speeds so you may finish your tile work and grout your piece within the workshop but often this isn’t the case for most people. You will be given grout to take away and grout your piece at home where you can take your time to complete this stage.

Audrey’s mosaic workshops are very popular in St Albans and has sold out of her popular family workshops in the holidays at Southern Maltings. This time is the adults turn to join in the mosaic fun.

No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm, and we’ll take care of the rest! Suitable for all ages from 16+

This workshop will be held in our lower studio with access via the East end of the building.
