Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that integrates traditional talk therapy with physical awareness and movement. It’s based on the idea that trauma and stress are stored not just in the mind, but also in the body. Through practices like breathwork, gentle movement, grounding exercises, and mindfulness, clients learn to tune into their bodily sensations. This helps release tension, process emotions, and restore a sense of safety and balance in the nervous system. Somatic therapy can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, helps regulate the nervous system, improves emotional resilience and stress response, enhances mind-body connection and self-awareness, and can relieve chronic tension and pain linked to emotional stress.It’s can be especially helpful for those who feel “stuck” in talk therapy or disconnected from their body after trauma.
