Blending Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) concepts with yoga backbends - specifically those from the Ashtanga Second Series with some gorgeous variations - we’ll weave our way toward clearer breath and more radiant hearts.
TCM offers a holistic lens through which we can begin to understand the body’s deeper patterns: where energy might be stuck, and why certain postures challenge us more than others. By tuning into these subtle cues, we open the door to healing on multiple levels.
Backbends offer a wealth of physical benefits: strengthening the spine and legs, opening tissue across the chest, and boosting overall vitality. But emotionally, they often speak the loudest. In times of distress, the body may create a protective shield around the heart - making heart-opening poses tender territory. It takes kindness to accept, patience to unravel, and a deep joy in the release.
