Duck Drop & MEGABike 2025

Get ready for TWO amazing fundraisers in one day! On Sunday, August 24th, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo invites the whole community to our Annual Duck Drop, where thousands of ducks are dropped out of a helicopter! This year, we are adding another event to an already exciting day: get a team together and ride the MEGABike!
25th Annual Duck Drop
The incredibly popular Duck Drop returns for the 25th year! The Duck Drop Race is a fun and exciting fundraising event hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters Wood Buffalo where supporters “adopt” rubber ducks that are dropped from a Vortex helicopter! Each duck is numbered, and the duck that lands the closest to the stake wins prizes for its adopter! Proceeds go directly toward supporting mentoring programs that empower local youth.

1st MEGABIKE RIDE
You’re invited to join Wood Buffalo’s first ride on the MEGABike - a brand new event where businesses, organizations, friends and families help raise funds in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo’s free mentoring programs and join us on Sunday, August 24th for a ride around Syncrude Athletic Park on the biggest bike in town during our annual Duck Drop!
MEGABike is a 29 seat human-powered bicycle with a professional driver - so you can relax and enjoy the ride. Teams can dress up and represent their business or organization, or show up as they are - as long as you have fun!
If your team doesn't have 29 humans to power the bike, don't worry! You will be paired up with another team so ensure a smooth ride.
Each team is encouraged to raise $500, but you are free to set your own fundraising goal. All funds raised through MEGABike support our free mentorship programs for children and youth throughout Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo region, with every dollar raised staying in our community. Register your team and fundraise at canadahelps.org/en/charities/big-brothers-big-sisters-association-of-wood-buffalo/p2p/MEGABIKE2025
