Get Arty with Archaeology: Illustrate the Lisnacrogher scabbards

Learn about the history of archaeological illustration, examine artefacts up close, and explore the tools archaeologists use to produce detailed illustrations of finds.

In this workshop, led by archaeologist Bronagh Murray from the Historic Environment Record of Northern Ireland (HERoNI), you’ll focus on the Lisnacrogher bronze scabbards. These remarkable sword covers are decorated with flowing, curvilinear La Tène designs resembling running waves and date from circa 300 to 200 BC.

Create your own illustration of the Lisnacrogher scabbards using a provided template, and put your newly acquired techniques into practice!
