Join us for this fascinating 'behind the scenes' tour of Ropley Station, alongside the track of this steam railway in the heart of Hampshire. During the 90 minute tour you will have a unique opportunity to get a detailed insight into the craftsmanship and equipment needed to restore and maintain the Watercress Lineβs steam locomotives and rolling stock, much of which dates back to the last century
The tour includes a visit to the workshop housing the specialist machinery used to maintain and create a range of parts, the shed in which the engines are brought to be reassembled and maintained, the boiler workshop and the area where all the carriage restoration takes place. Led by some of the volunteer team who keep the railway running, there will be lots of opportunities to chat to the team, ask questions and to take photos
Clearly we are unable to guarantee which particular rolling stock will be in the workshops and sheds (you might even get to see the iconic Thomas the Tank Engine), but you are guaranteed a fascinating tour, even if you aren't a real railway enthusiast!
There is a minimum age of 12 for this tour and those taking part MUST wear closed toe shoes (no flip-flops or open-toed sandals/shoes please)
Β£18 per person
