The Yangzheng Legacy, 120 Years of Nurturing
Renowned composer Xian Xinghai's epic work Yellow River Cantata tells the story of the indomitable spirit of the Chinese people. Singapore holds a special place in the composer's heart, for it was at Yangzheng Primary School that his musical journey began. As Yangzheng Primary School celebrates its 120th Anniversary this year, SCO will perform the timeless masterpiece Yellow River Cantata for the Singapore audience again after almost two decades, under the baton of SCO Principal Conductor Quek Ling Kiong.
The concert begins on a vibrant note with Four Cantonese Classics arranged by renowned composer Wu Hua. This spirited opening pays tribute to the visionary Cantonese pioneers who founded Yangzheng Primary School a hundred years ago, honouring their legacy through music. Adding to the celebration, Cultural Medallion recipient Law Wai Lun presents a newly commissioned work inspired by the story of Yangzheng. Don't miss the premiere by SCO in this special concert!

著名作曲家冼星海历久不衰的《黄河大合唱》，体现了华族儿女坚毅不屈的精神。与新加坡结下不解之缘的冼星海，正是在养正小学接受音乐启蒙。适逢今年是养正小学120周年校庆，华乐团将会在郭勇德的指挥下，在狮城重现《黄河大合唱》这部不朽巨作。
其他亮点包括由著名作曲家吴华编曲的广东音乐组曲掀开序幕，包含《赛龙夺锦》、《娱乐升平》、《月圆曲》和《旱天雷》，寓意向百年前，成立了养正学校的新加坡广东先贤们致敬。本地作曲大师罗伟伦更会为养正的故事全新谱曲，并由华乐团世界首演。
