From his time with the Duke Ellington Orchestra to his decades of leadership in his own groups. Bob Brookmyer, a brilliant valve trombonist and composer, was equally influential, known for his sophisticated harmonic sense and innovative arrangements. His work with the Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band and collaborations with artists like Stan Getz and Chet Baker helped shape the modern sound of jazz during the 1950s and beyond.
