Maa Durga, also known as Shakti or Devi, is one of the most revered forms of the Divine Mother in Hinduism. She is traditionally depicted riding a lion or tiger, wielding weapons in her many arms—an embodiment of courage, righteousness, and protection. According to ancient texts like the Devi Mahatmya (Chandi Path), Durga was manifested by the combined energies of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva to defeat the demon king Mahishasura, who threatened cosmic order. This epic battle symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

Over millennia, Durga has come to represent the universal feminine power (Shakti) that sustains and nurtures the cosmos. She is worshipped in countless forms—such as Kali, Ambika, Bhavani, and Chandika—each highlighting her unique attributes. In the Hindu tradition, Durga embodies both fierce warrior aspects and gentle motherly love. Celebrations like Navaratri (nine nights) honor her nine forms and remind devotees of the importance of inner strength, moral integrity, and unwavering faith. By singing her bhajans, reciting her stotras, and performing Choki (devotional singing through the night), devotees seek her guidance, protection, and blessings for prosperity and spiritual growth.

🙏 The programme will conclude with Pritibhojan, lovingly sponsored by Mr & Mrs S C Jain and family.
