Youth Player Auditions: The Outsiders

Youth Players will hold auditions for The Outsiders by Christopher Sergel on September 14, 15, and 16 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm upstairs in the annex, located next door to the theater at 227 Putnam St. Show dates are November 21, 22, and 23. These auditions are open to anyone in 6th - 12th grade.
Please bring your schedule with you that lists any other activities, vacations, or days you cannot rehearse. Auditions will consist of reading from the script.

Synopsis:
"Christopher Sergel’s play is a faithful adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s coming-of-age-novel about rival teenage gangs in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Greasers come from troubled working-class backgrounds, contrasted with the Socials, whose members are from upper-middle-class families. Like the novel, the play centers on 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis, a member of the Greasers gang, as he recounts the violent aftermath after his friend Johnny fatally stabbed Socials member Bob. This adaptation places much of the violence off-stage and minimizes the strong language and mature content of the novel and movie, making it a fitting choice for high school productions. The characters are crafted with compassion and nuance, offering opportunities for rich character study and conversations about violence and social status." - stageagent.com
Ponyboy - The youngest Curtis brother, 14 years old, gets good grades and runs track early teens, a greaser.
Johnny - Ponyboy's best friend, 16 years old, extremely quiet
Bob - A soc, 18 years old, Cherry's boyfriend, bestfriends with Randy.
Randy - A soc, 18 years old, Bob's bestfriend, Marcia's boyfriend.
Dallas - A 17-year-old juvenile delinquent, the roughest of the greasers, close with Johnny.
Two Bit - 18 years old, a greaser, wisecracker, likes Marcia.
Darry - The oldest Curtis brother, 20 years old, has been caring for his brothers since their parents died in a car crash.
Sodapop - The middle Curtis brother, 16 years old, high school dropout, works at a gas station, dating Sandy.
Sandy - 16 years old, Sodapop's former girlfriend.
Cherry - A soc, 16 years old, Bob's girlfriend, befriend's Ponyboy and Johnny, bestfriends with Marcia.
Marcia - A soc, 16 years old, Randy's girlfriend, befriends Two-Bit, Cherry's bestfriend.
Mrs. O'Briant - Member of the burnt down church.
Jerry - Member of the burnt down church.
Doctor - at the hospital
Nurse - at the hospital
Mr. Syme - Ponyboy's favorite teacher, his English teacher
Paul - A soc
