Eco Dyeing with Lichens

Join the guild for a natural dye workshop that explores the colours derived from lichens. The abundance of lichens was donated by a guild member, who for years gathered them on her journeys.
Wool dyed with lichens do not need mordants, so we will batch dye different lichens in jars, this method is a bit like canning. This allows us to experiment with more varieties than the usual immersion method.
Everyone will be able to take home samples of the colours dyed on this day.
The dye process will be led by Judith Muller, BFA, Fibre Artist and guild member who has been collecting, dyeing and working with plant dyed materials for over 30 years.
