During the week of Australia Day, learn about how Emily Carr influenced Australian poet, environmentalist and cultural icon, Judith Wright (b. 1915). With insights from Dr. Lycia Trouton, examine how each woman helped shape the political and social debates about ecological concerns and Indigenous rights in Australia and Canada in the 21st century.
The presentation is followed by a hands-on art/poetry workshop to create your own interpretative imagery/text work based on Carr's iconic ecological paintings. Use images and words to express your own emotions about current environmental concerns inspired by these two groundbreaking women and their work.
