National Moth Week: Drop-in Moth Celebration!

Each year, people from around the world come together to celebrate the beauty, diversity, and ecological importance of moths. Additionally, ordinary people come together to collect data on moths through community science! Taking photos and submitting them to sites or phone apps like iNaturalist allows scientists to learn more about these animals and their distribution.

There’s so much that’s still to be discovered, and our center is a fantastic place for viewing moths due to the absence of light pollution, insecticides/pesticides, and the abundance of native host plants. See why these animals captivate the minds and hearts of so many and learn how you can support moth diversity through native plantings in your yard. Lots of moths is good for birds, too!

Join us for casual observing, discussion, and data collection on these truly fascinating animals!
