📣 Goondiwindi Mental Health Professionals’ Network Meeting
🗓 Thursday 31 July 2025
🕠 5:30 pm
📍 Rural Sky, GMC House, 47 Bowen Street, Goondiwindi
Mental health professionals in the Goondiwindi region are warmly invited to attend our next Goondiwindi Mental Health Professionals’ Network meeting. This is an opportunity to connect, share knowledge, and strengthen collaborative care in our community.
🗣 Topic: Food, Mood and Mental Health – Welcome to Nutritional Psychiatry
We are thrilled to welcome Margot Hawker as our guest speaker for the evening.
👩⚕️ About the Speaker:
Margot Hawker is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist with over 30 years’ experience across metropolitan and rural settings – from London to the bush. For the past 15 years, Margot has had a special interest in the powerful connection between food and mood, including formal study through the Mood and Food Centre Deakin University and microbiome research.
With a deep passion for the evolving science of nutrition, Margot will introduce us to the emerging field of Nutritional Psychiatry – exploring how dietary patterns, individual nutrients, and gut health influence our mental and emotional wellbeing.
🍲 Bonus! The evening meal has been thoughtfully designed by Margot to showcase simple, cost-effective ingredients that support a healthy gut microbiome.
👥 What is the Mental Health Professionals’ Network (MHPN)?
The MHPN is a national initiative that supports local multidisciplinary networks of mental health practitioners. Our Goondiwindi-based group brings together psychologists, social workers, GPs, occupational therapists, mental health nurses, counsellors, and other allied health professionals to build relationships, improve referral pathways, and share expertise in a supportive and informal setting. Whether you’re new to the region or a long-time local, you’re very welcome to attend.
Please RSVP by 5:00 pm Tuesday 29 July to help us finalise catering numbers.
💌 Please RSVP to your volunteer coordinator, Katherine Johnstone, at YWRtaW4gfCBydXJhbHNreSAhIGNvbSAhIGF1, and kindly advise of any dietary requirements when replying.
We look forward to seeing you there as we continue building a strong, connected mental health community in the Goondiwindi region.
