Keeping Wildlife Wild Program by WI DNR

Every year, countless individuals look for advice on wildlife they encounter such as a potentially orphaned fawn, a black bear getting into their bird feeders, or questions on what to do about the family of raccoons in their backyard tree. Terry Shaurette and Jenna Fastner from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will join us to discuss wildlife behavior and how to coexist with the wildlife in your area. This program will include educational materials, opportunities for tactile learning, and time to share your personal experiences and questions. This program is free and open to the public, suitable for all ages.

Terry Shaurette, Eau Claire and Chippewa County Wildlife Biologist, oversees habitat management of state-owned properties such as Tom Lawin Wildlife Area and Hallie Marsh and helps monitor wildlife populations.

As the Captive Wildlife Health Specialist for the DNR, Jenna Fastner works closely with licensed wildlife rehabilitators in Wisconsin and frequently helps guide the public through wildlife encounters.
