Golden Hour Birding

Join us for an evening of golden hour slow-birding at Alton Baker Park. We’ll take time to notice what’s around us — from birds to breeze to blooming plants — rather than covering a lot of ground.
We’ll follow a mostly flat path that is paved or hard-packed gravel, with benches throughout and restrooms available. This will be a short, slow-paced outing with plenty of opportunities to sit, rest, or simply stay in one spot and take it all in. You’re welcome to walk, roll, or relax — bring a camp chair or picnic blanket if that’s more your style.
As the sun sets, we may spot Violet-green Swallows, Cedar Waxwings, Great Blue Herons, and possibly a Green Heron fledgling or two tucked along the water’s edge. Bring binoculars if you’d like, and water to stay hydrated.
All 2SLGBTQIA+ birders and allies are welcome — whether you’re brand new to birding, a seasoned expert, or just here to enjoy the park in good company. All ages, experience levels, and abilities are welcome.
If you have any questions about accessibility or would like to share specific access needs, feel free to reach out ahead of time. We’ll do our best to make sure everyone feels supported.
We can’t wait to bird with you!
