We partner with K-State Research & Extension Pottawatomie County to offer Creative Meal Solutions, a series of free nutrition and cooking classes. This spring and summer, we're excited to offer evening classes, open to everyone in the community!
When/Where:
Classes will take place on the first Tuesday of each month, March through August, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at Wamego United Methodist Church. Guests may find it easiest to enter through Door 4 on the east side of the building.
Registration:
Registration is required, as class size is limited. To sign up, email SNAP Educator, Julene DeRouchey, at anVsZW5lIHwga3N1ICEgZWR1 by Monday, March 3.
What to Expect:
Each class features a demonstration of a healthy recipe made with simple ingredients, plus plenty of delicious samples. You'll also learn basic cooking skills and practical tips to stretch your food budget. Children are welcome to attend along with an adult.
Incentives:
Those who attend a class can receive a coupon for two additional items at Faith Market. The pantry will be open on class nights from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Those who attend all six classes will become eligible for a $30 kitchenware incentive.
KanCare members who complete all six classes may also qualify for a food journal and a cooking item valued at $50. To receive this benefit, contact Celia Ruiz at United Healthcare at Y2VsaWFfcnVpeiB8IHVoYyAhIGNvbQ== after completing the course.
