Moth-A-Palooza: Presentation and Guided Hike
Advertisement
Come out on to Rend Lake Project Visitor Center to learn more about moths during National Moth Week with Illinois Extension Forest Management and Ecology Specialist, Kevin Rohling and Horticulture Educator, Kimberly Rohling. Attendees should bring a camera, headlamp or flashlight, since the hike will be at night. If you would like to assist with citizen science efforts, please download the iNaturalist app before you attend the event. We'll begin with an indoor presentation and view our moth collection and other resources while anticipation builds for darkness to envelop outdoors and for moths to become active. We'll then take a short hike out to our moth lights and other attractants to observe and report on the creatures of the night!
Please meet at the Rend Lake Project Visitor Center: 11981 Rend City Rd, Benton, IL 62812 at 8:30pm. The event may be canceled or postponed depending on weather conditions. You will receive email notification the morning of the program. Online registration will close Sunday, July 13, 2025. Register at: extension.illinois.edu/events/2025-07-19-moth-palooza
