About the Training:
The AFSP Suicide Bereavement Support Group Facilitator Training Program offers suicide prevention organizers a way to create and facilitate a community support group for suicide loss survivors in the aftermath of a suicide. This is a two-day training and includes lecture, interactive discussion, and role-playing. The training is led by experts in the field of suicide bereavement. This course is for facilitating adult support groups.
Who Should Attend This Training?
Mental health professionals and survivors of suicide loss who want to start a support group.
Current group facilitators who want to strengthen their skills, stay up to date on the latest practices, and explore issues they have encountered while facilitating.
Survivors of suicide loss who have waited at least two years after experiencing a suicide loss.
Non-clinicians who have at least one year of experience participating in a support group.
Participant Cost:
The North Florida Chapter has received a grant from the Mayo Clinic so there will be no registration fee for participants. However, participants will be responsible for their travel expenses including one night stay at the Courtyard by Marriott.
Hotel Registration:
We have secured a special group rate of $199 for our participants. Please book your room by Wednesday, August 13th.
