The Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society will host a birding field trip to the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center on Saturday, July 12th at 8:30 AM. The purpose of this trip is to introduce birders to this birder-friendly property with well-managed prairie habitat that offers accessible birding year-round. We’ll explore the 61-acre property through managed prairie habitat and riparian woods along Spring Creek. Expected species include Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Eastern Meadowlark, Indigo Bunting, and Summer Tanager. We’ll meet at the main entrance of the center at 8:30 AM (3400 North 40th Street, Springdale, AR). Participants can expect to walk ~1 mile along flat, paved trails for an hour or so. The center also offers indoor nature exhibits, water, and restrooms. The trip is free and open to the public. You do not need to be an NWAAS member to attend.
