Work Party - summer invasive removal

We will remove summer invasive plants, typically porcelain berry, invasive Himalayan pokeweed, Japanese hedge parsley, burdock, mullein and cut and treat the common wood invasives, buckthorn and honeysuckle. Most of this work is in the wooded areas of the park. Some are pulled up by hand. For others (pokeweed and burdock) we dig or sever the taproot with shovels or (buckthorn and honeysuckle) we cut with handsaws or loppers and treat with herbicide.

No prior training or experience is needed. We will show you how to identify the plants and give you lots of practice. Everyone is welcome! No tools needed. Consider wearing long sleeves and long pants and sturdy shoes for easy off-trail walking. Bring work gloves if you want them as well as drinking water and sunscreen and whatever you need to safely and comfortably co-exist with insects, plants and sunlight while you work. If you have ANY RESERVATIONS about whether you have the knowledge or physical ability to do this work, please let me know your concerns.
