Mark your calendars for our next monthly book club meeting on Sunday, July 27 at 5 p.m. to discuss βThe River Has Rootsβ by Amal El-Mohtar. πΈ
This novella is a short and whimsical story based on βThe Two Sisters,β a seventeenth-century ballad about a dangerous feud between two sisters and one man. Reimagined as a fairytale, βThe River Has Rootsβ tells the story of two devoted sisters β Esther and Ysabel β who live in a magical land on the edge of the Faerie realm and tend to enchanted willow trees. Their relationship is tested, however, when Esther rejects a human suitor in favor of a lover from Faerie and the conflict that ensues puts their lives at risk. Full of beautiful prose and dreamlike sentences, El-Mohtar crafts the most enchanting tale about sisterhood, love, and the magic of nature. πΉβοΈ
