Dr. Julie Clemens serves Illinois Central College as Professor and Chair of the music program. In this role, Dr. Clemens oversees and teaches in the music theory program, directs the Velvet Voices treble choir on campus, leads the premiere group ICC Vocal Jazz, and teaches applied voice. While in this role, she has worked to create the ICC Music Academy which serves community members of all ages with access to high quality music instruction.

Before beginning her tenure at ICC, Dr. Clemens conducted the Women’s Chorale at Knox College, served as Music Director for the Bradley University Theater program, and directed the Peoria Area Civic Chorale Youth Chorus program. She also currently serves as Director of Worship at Crossroads Global Methodist Church in Washington, IL.

Dr. Clemens holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration and Policy from Illinois State University, a Master of Music Education with a conducting emphasis also from ISU, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music.
