The Sierra Railroad was a perfect match for Hollywood because of its scenery and steam era equipment along with buildings erected in the 1890's. The Sierra is probably the most filmed railroad in the world and not surprisingly most of them were westerns. Film making started as early as 1910 and continues up to today. Three movies shot on the Sierra received Academy Awards.
History Enthusiast, Ed Marsh, will talk about the history of the Sierra Railroad; it's many movies and TV shows that were produced and the scores of actors that participated in the filming of the scenes from the 20's up to today.
Doors open at 5:30 pm for snacks and to chat with the speaker. The lecture starts at 6:30 pm sharp. Note our new meeting day; Wednesday! See you soon!
