"THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE" SHOWTIME!

The Community Arts Council of Blount County presents "The Pirates of Penzance," a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta about Frederic, a young man mistakenly apprenticed to a band of pirates. He falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, but a twist of fate reveals that Frederic was born on a leap day, meaning he is still bound to his pirate apprenticeship for many more years. The story revolves around the absurdity of the pirates' lifestyle, Frederic's duty, and the complications of love and social expectations. The production's director is Kiersten Wegmann.
