ACTION ALERT!!
We have a chance to pass BOTH of our plastic pollution bills this month!! Monday June 30th is the last day of legislative action until January. With your help both of our priority bills have a chance of passage!
Last Wednesday, HB 111 (HS1) - aka the Skip the Stuff Act - was before the House Economic Development Committee. Rep. Sophie Phillips did a masterful job presenting the bill. HB 111 was released from committee and Substitute 2 was prepared to add some clarity as per the committee discussion. HB 111 (HS2) is now ready for a House vote. If it is voted on FIRST THING Monday, it could make it over to the Senate and get a vote there before the June 30th deadline.
Also, SB130 (SS1) to ban retail sales of EPS foam was voted out of the Senate yesterday in bipartisan fashion with amazing alacrity thanks to Sen. Trey Paradee. Tonight, SB130 was whisked through the next step, with House committee members signing off on the bill. SB 130 is now ready for a House vote now.
