Now that the National Indigenous day is over, it’s time to reflect and refocus on new coming events. The Totem-to-Totem Haida Marathon, Half and 10 km 2025 event is on July 19 this year inside of Skidegate Days as always.
In light of the recent events this year, the race will be dedicated to Luke Pearson. Let justice takes its course inside our judicial system for those responsible. As for us runners and supporters we focus on our “Body, Mind and Spirit”.
May our bodies run with the strength not only to endure the race but to reflect how some good people die so young.
May we have the mind set to reflect on the strength and support we can give to each other do what is right.
May we run with the spirit of the Islands to appreciate the spirit of Luke, willing stand strong for what is right and appropriate against all things.
I wish take this opportunity to remind all those out there we need volunteers. All registered and volunteers of the Totem-to-Totem Haida Marathon will be entered in the Volunteer Draws of Skidegate.
We pray for those that have gone before us like Luke, Ben, and others, we know those that left us so early that they share seats together in the heavenly gallery over our race as they look over the whole village.
